Photography is a medium of self-expression. It is an art form that requires aesthetic sense as well as technical expertise. At "Expressions" we bring together photographers, photography lovers, hobbyists as well as amateurs for our photography club at AIIM.
Skills can range from novice to professional. The aim is to continue education in the art, science and technique of photography, mutual learning & appreciation and enjoyment of the beauty that surrounds us.
The photography club has planned activities such as -
1. Introductory meeting of the club/ general discussion concerning the forthcoming activities of the club and other relevant matters (website creation, technicalities of inviting industry professionals etc).
2. Lecture from a professional photographer.
- A general discussion on the basics of using cams, lenses and lights, and a bit more on the technical aspects such as focusing, exposure and DOF.
3. Announcement of a photography competition, based on a relevant topic. (This would later be judged by a professional from outside, if possible).
4. Discussion meets on basic post processing techniques. Use of Photoshop for basic stuff like cropping, using adjustment layers to adjust exposure, curves, dynamic range etc. and to apply filters (by a professional, if possible).
5. Outdoor photoshoot in campus (with some enthusiast from outside, if possible)
- Basic fundas on composition (framing, rule-of-thirds/golden mean, etc.), and use of shutter speeds.
6. A starter on photo blogging.
-Discussion on the practical/ technical aspects of setting up and maintaining a photoblog (web-hosting, CMS (content management systems), maintaining web traffic, etc.)
7. Club closing meet, Photography competition results (to be judged by some well- known photographer - online, if not in person), passing the baton to the next batch at AIIM.
